The train ride..

Train ride..
Sitting in the train and riding to the university.. I felt a sense of anticipation. Meeting fellow researchers from other companies and settings is always stimulating..

But just for an instant.. with the music humming gently in my ears, a little lost in the characters and plot of the book I'm reading, as the gentle hills and houses and woods go rolling by.. I feel mesmerised.. almost hypnotised into a lull.. For a minute I wished the train would never halt, just to keep going, and me to be suspended in that moment.

Then the announcements came on the speakers and I snapped back to reality!! What was that!!!

I love trian rides. My parents were in railways and we always lived close to train station. We loved the sound of trains whistle.

Nice post.

Well, with trains like the ones in Switzerland, I am sure you have an opportunity to slip into a dreamy world!! Try that here in India!! :-D In spite of the options, I usually prefer to travel in the sleeper class. You get to see and feel the real pulse of people there...

Shilpey.. We too lived close to the train station in Nagpur when I was a kid; in a big joint family. The sound of the train whistle makes me feel very nostalgic as we are all scattered now..some not even living in this world any more!!

I do enjoy train rides in Switzerland.. But the ones etched in my memory are the 2nd class sleeper journey with my parents and siblings which we took every year from Nagpur to Mumbai!! My brother was very focussed on what speciality was available at stations of significance and always woke me up for a poori bhaji at Igatpuri and a vada pao at Kalyan and the mouthwatering chikis at Lonawala!!!
