Its Puppy!!

Hi pups.. hi puppy.. and lately, hi pappu (she cannot stand that.. coz of the 'pappu cant dance' gana!!!!

Nothing could have been more exasperating for my daughter than calling her puppy .. but that was a while ago. Now she takes it in her stride. The name stuck because the 'auto-man' a jovial, paunchy and loud auto driver, who took the kids to and from school in Bangalore, could never figure out her real name 'Pavithra'. She was always 'Puppy' to him.

And now many years later .. my sister tells me, her daughter 'Akanksha,' has been rechristened 'Akash' by none other than the 'school bus driver'. My neice not too pleased with that development a good 6 years after 'Puppy' came about!!!

Reminds me of 'Cheryl Ann Rocque' from my school days .. whose irritation knew no bounds, when she had her maid from home screaming for her in the lofty corridoors of the St Joseph's Convent..."Sarla-baby, ghar chalo'!!!! And not to forget Sicilia who got a challan from the traffic policeman for driving her two wheeler into a 'No Enrty' street. She promptly tore the peice of paper into bits, minutes after, and at our surprised look, explained.. the name he got is 'SILSILA'!!What a laugh!
